Are You Building Your List The Correct Way?

I know you have probably heard “The money is in the list” no fewer than hundreds
of times unless you are very new to Internet Marketing. Why is building a subscriber
list so important?

There are numerous reason why you should be building a list from the beginning of
your online endeavors. Even though we are mostly talking about Affiliate Marketing
and related matters the reasons I give can be used in any type of business.

What makes a business? Is it the product that you are selling that makes your business.
While having a product to sell whether it is your own or your are promoting a product
as an affiliate, the product doesn’t actually make the business. Then again it is
important to have a product that is good and fulfills your customers wants and or
needs.

Is the website your business? Where having a website is important it doesn’t make
your business. You may have the best looking website of the millions of websites on
the internet. But, without one important factor your website is just another piece of
cyber real estate that very few if any at all see it.

The main and most important ingredient that makes a business a successful one is
the customer. The customer (also referred to a traffic) is what you have to send
to your website to get a free gift in exchange for their name and email address to
build your list of subscribers.

Your free gift can be signing up for your newsletter, and ebook, a video course, a
useful software, and even an ecourse. As long as it is something of recognizable
value that will entice them to sign up (opt-in) giving your permission to email
them in the future.

Remember to always include valuable content when emailing your subscribers and
not bombard the with offer after offer so your unsubscribe rate will stay low. Give
your subscribers a reason to look forward to receiving and opening your emails. Do

Website Traffic – A Must Have

The life blood of any website is TRAFFIC.

By now you should have your landing page (opt-in page) ready and a product that
is relevant to the subject of your opt-in product. Now comes the most import part
and that is sending traffic to you opt-in page to build your list and promoting your
product you have to offer.

There are several ways to send traffic to your website. Article Marketing is probably
the most long term method that works the best. For short term you have PayPerClick
using Google Adwords which if not done right can get rather expensive and cause a
monetary loss reflected in you ROI.

I have covered Traffic exchanges in past post and use them only by purchasing the
credits to send traffic to my landing page. Once you have built your list then you
can email your offer to your list members. Use caution here by not bombarding your
list with offer after offer which can and more than likely cause you to loose a valuable
subscriber.

3 Tools For Affiliate Marketers

Clickbank Marketplace. Needing PLR Content. How About Link Cloaking?

The above are very key ingredients to the success of most if not all Affiliate
Marketers. Recently we covered in a post about Selecting The Right Products
To Promote

Which hit on the most important factors on product selection but
didn’t quite cover it all. More on that further down.

What is the hardest part of creating your own product? You found a hot targeted
market, they have expressed their problems or needs, so what is your next step?
Creating a product that solves their problem or need. Well, lot easier said than
done you say.

You have three maybe four options;

1. Research and create the product yourself, which can take a some time and a
lot of effort. Plus you stand to loose this market if someone else comes up with
the product before you get yours released.

2. Search ClickBank marketplace and other affiliate programs to find a product
that can meet their needs. This is a more quicker approach than product creation by far. After all you get a percentage of the sale if the sales letter compels the reader
to purchase the product.

3. Find a Private Label Rights (PLR) product that will fit their needs and revamp
it to look like a different product. Yes, it is ethical and a lot of Gurus are doing just that. Another plus to this solution is, it is your product and you get to keep 100% of
the revenue generated by it. :)

We all have tons of PLR on our hard drive so option number 3 would be the best
solution to consider. If you are one that doesn’t have a lot of PLR products a
great resource for products is Monthly Content. I sincerely like what Ryan has
done with his site and can honestly recommend him to you. The products are
first class and the rights to the product are displayed so you don’t have to go
searching for them in the product folder itself. Just go to Monthly Content with Ryan.

One way that I am not covering at this time is Outsourcing. That in itself is a subject
that can take time to cover and do it right.

ClickBank Marketplace. There are more than 1 million affiliates that have accounts
at ClickBank, of that number over 90% of ClickBank affiliates are INACTIVE.

    Read that last sentence again.

Why are they inactive and what happens when an affiliate account becomes inactive.

Link Cloaking: One of the biggest problems affiliates face is commission theft. Yes,

install a software at your hosting account to cloak your link and track the results. You
also have desktop software that will cloak your links for you, or you can use a online
service to cloak and track your links for you.

One such online link cloaking service I like is OffTo.net which is run by Johnathan
Leger and is totally free. So, you do want to hassle with installing software or dealing with MySql databases then you should consider OffTo.net. After all it will not cost you to try this service out. Not only does it cloak your link but keeps stats for you also.

Selecting The Right Products To Promote.

How To Choose The most profitable products from the Clickbank marketplace to promote.

I want to begin by asking you this question.

Do you know how to choose a product from the Clickbank market place that
you know will be profitable?

If you answered “yes” that is great, you are probably earning money using
clickbank as a resource for products.

If you answered “no” then hopefully after today you will have a better
understanding of what is involved in choosing a profitable profit through
Clickbank.

First, when it comes to choosing and promoting Clickbank products it is a
good idea to have a solid criteria that you can use to decide if the
product is going to be profitable and worth your time and effort.

Now, a few of the key things you should look at are the Gravity score,
the competition, the salesletter, the commission rate and the price of the
actual product.

For now I would like to talk about the Clickbank gravity score and how it
will help you choose the right products to promote.

Ok, so what exactly is Clickbank gravity? To this day that is a question that
continues to baffle many affiliates.

But, according to Clickbank the gravity score is:

The number of distinct affiliates who earned a commission by referring
a paying customer to the vendor’s products. This is a weighted sum
and not an actual total. For each affiliate paid in the last eight weeks
they add an amount between 0.1 and 1.0 to the total. The more recent
the last referral, the higher the value added.

[If you need to reread the last paragraph until you completely understand it.]

It doesn’t actually have anything to do with the total amount of sales that
have been made for a particular product.

What a high gravity score actually indicates is that affiliate marketers
are earning plenty of commissions on sales from the product.

A low gravity score indicates that there haven’t been many sales for the
product at all.

So as you can see the actual gravity of a product is an important indicator
of how successful a product is selling.

Lets look at an example of how you can interpret the gravity score.
Let’s say for instance that the product has a score of 336, that means
that 336 affiliates have made a sale for that product within the last eight
weeks.

Keep in mind that this doesn’t reflect the amount of sales made by each
affiliate. It could be that 336 affiliates made one sale each or that three
affiliates made 112 sales each. There is really no way to tell for sure.
But it can lead you to the conclusion that a high gravity score often
means more competitors.

It is important to keep in mind that it will be more difficult to make
money from a product that has a large number of affiliates promoting it.
A good rule of thumb is to aim for products that have a referral
percentage below 65%. This means you will have less competition.

If you don’t mind the competition it is perfectly OK to promote products
with a higher gravity score. Simply because these products have been
proven to be successful sellers and you can be sure that there is a
market for them.

Then again, there are lots of extremely valuable products on Clickbank
that have a far lower gravity score with less competition. Of course the
choice is completely up to you, but I recommend that you keep your
product choices limited to ones with a gravity of 20 or higher. Because
most products below that just won’t make any money for you no matter
how much you promote them.

After you have found several products that meet your criteria based on
the gravity score you can begin looking at the other variables like
evaluating the sales letter, cost and commissions.

By understanding how the Clickbank gravity score works you can be
more confident that you are picking the most profitable products to
promote.

The Importance Of Marketing Research

Why Researching Your Market is Critical To Your Business.

I would like to talk to you today about “Market Research” and the
important role it will play in you online business endeavors.

Remember when you first started with Internet Marketing did you
have any problem choosing a product to promote. More than likely
you didn’t but, after promoting it how much did you earn? Was it a
hot product you made money with? Or, was it a product that you
wasted time and money promoting and made very little or even
possibly lost money?

Tuff questions but the answers to them helped you learn not to
repeat those mistakes. Lessons learned! One question that you should
ask yourself is “Did I do the proper research needed to be done before
I chose and promoted the product?”

I you answered “no” to the last question then you are not alone and
now realize the importance of market research. So, how do you do
the proper research and what should you look for?

There are so many ways that books have been written since the time
advertising was first used. Believe it or not, even today a lot of the
original ideas about market research back then still apply to market
research today. Its just we have a different (and more improved)
access to the information today than years ago.

One way to get the information you need is to ask your list/customers
questions about what you want to know. The most important aspect
of this is to listen to what they have to say. It can only deepen your
relationships with them and improve you company identity, even
leading to new markets and or new products that they are telling you
they need or want.

Another way which you probable know about is looking at the trends.
Visit Google Hot Trends, Yahoo Buzz and Answers, eBay Pulse, and
Amazon Bestsellers. Check out what people are talking about, what
they are buying, problems they need answers to, tools they may
need or want.

43things.com is another great source for leads to affiliate products,
or even for ideas of a product you can create. They are there telling
you what interest them, what problems they need solved and hopefully
you can guide them to what they need.

Clickbank.com/marketplace as you know is the leading supplier for
digital products that you can promote. Once there you can choose
the category you are interested in and find the products that will
supply the information your target market needs.

Another source I like to use is cbengine.com.There they go into more
detail about the product in question giving you a better understanding
of how the product rates and preforms for the affiliates promoting it.
Cbengine has some information you can get for free but, to access the
more critical information on the product there is a small, reasonable
yearly fee that is well worth the investment to access this information.

There are other resources you may want to check out at Commission
Junction, Linkshare and ShareASale.

Another market research idea is to join and monitor forums within
your niche or market. A easy way to find them is to go to Google and
type in niche keyword+forums (affiliate marketing + forums). That
search combination came up with 8.9 million results, so you can see
finding forums should be no problem.

and live by them and you should be able to connect with some
good people for possible JV projects, ad swapping, and even cross

Once you have completed your research and found your target market
then you should be able to find a product that you can make money
with. The only criteria you need for the product is that it is quality and
solve your markets wants or needs. Visit the sales page and read
through it, if the sales letter gets your attention and convinces you
that this product is something you would buy because it fits your
wants and needs them you have a winner.

The Easiest Way To Outsell Other Affiliates

If you’re an affiliate marketer, then you’re always looking over your shoulder
to see if the competition – your fellow affiliates – are catching up to you.  Or,
worse than that, you’re looking up ahead trying to catch up with them!

At times any market can be crowded, so selling the same thing to the same
group of people means you’re lucky to get just a small share of the market.
Imagine having thirty-five Wal-Mart stores in one small town, all competing
with each other to get the local business.  You get the idea.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.  The easiest way to outsell other affiliates
is this…

Turn your AFFILIATE offer into a UNIQUE offer!

You see, most affiliates try to sell the product as is. If your prospects are
shopping around, they’re going to skip all the “buy from me” offers.

Instead, they’re going to focus on those offers that give them an incentive to
buy. And that means you can outsell the other affiliates simply by offering a
bonus product to anyone who buys through your affiliate link.

I’ve been teaching this concept since 2001 and, all things being equal, those
affiliates who put this into practice will outsell those who don’t virtually 100%
of the time.

It’s a very simple strategy.  Let’s break it down into three steps…

Step 1: CHOOSE Your Incentive

Your goal is to make your offer stand out from the crowd by offering an
incentive to buy from your link, thereby boosting your conversion rate.
And that means you need to offer a bonus that enhances or otherwise
complements the affiliate product.

Did you catch that?  Your bonus should “enhance” or “complement” the
product you are promoting as an affiliate.  That’s what makes for the best
incentive.

————- Case Study ———–

Let me give you a “real” case study (not made up … actually done by one
of my customers).

A customer – who is also one of my affiliates – recently purchased my
Multiple Streams Theme wordpress blog theme.  He loaded it to his site.
Then, he invested a little time writing a small report that teaches how to
customize and tweak the theme.  He offered this small report, filled with
insider shortcuts and tips for enhancing the theme, as an incentive to
anyone who ordered the Multiple Streams Theme through his affiliate link.

Brilliant.

I’m just guessing, but I bet the report didn’t take him half an hour to write.
He just logged his own personal experiences.  And yet it has high value to
anyone who has plans to order the theme.

That’s how you outsell other affiliates.  You turn your AFFILIATE offer into
a UNIQUE OFFER.

————- Case Study ———–

One way to do this is by reading the sales letter for the product and choosing
one particularly enticing bullet point.

Example #1: If the sales letter tells prospects they can learn how to get traffic
from social media sites, then you can create a report called “27 Ways to Use
Social Media to Drive Traffic to Any Website!”

Example #2: If the sales page for a diet book promises a month of low calorie
recipes to customers, you can create a supplementary low calorie recipe book
and give it away to those who buy from your link.

Example #3: If you’re promoting a dog training book and you see a bullet
point about eliminating bad behaviors such as jumping, incessant barking,
digging in the gardening, etc. You can create a report or even a video called,
“The Secrets of Training the Perfect Dog: How to Keep Your Dog’s Paws Off
Your Guests, Off Your Counters and Out of Your Garden!”

The point is, your freebie should be directly related to the affiliate offer. You
want your prospects to buy through your link just because the incentive is so
enticing.

What kind of incentive?  You can do videos, software, coaching, advertising,
installations, services, etc.

But, “pound for pound”, the best and easiest incentive to create is a small report.

Step 2: CREATE Your Incentive

Once you decide on the topic, your next step is to create the bonus product. If
you’re creating a short report or video, you can probably finish it in one day.
Otherwise, you can hire a trusted freelancer to do it, which frees your time to
focus on marketing the offer!

Tip: You find ghostwriters on sites like WarriorForum.com, Elance.com, and
GetAFreelancer.com. You can also ask for recommendations from your
colleagues via your social networks or on business forums.

Step 3: CIRCULATE Your Incentive.

Finally, your last step is to promote your offer by letting prospects know that
anyone who buys the affiliate product using your link will get the bonus product.

Let your list know.  Tell your blog readers.  Tweet about it.  Purchase advertising.
Distribute free marketing materials such as ezine articles.  Mention it in sig files at
forums.  You know the drill.

Now, there are a few ways to deliver the product:

1. On the download page. If you’ve developed a relationship with the product
vendor, he may agree to set up a special sales page that promotes the bonus
plus a special download page so that customers can download it instantly after
purchasing.

2. Manually. You can have customers forward their receipts and then you send
them the link to the bonus.

3. Automatically. You can also set up a special email address with an
autoresponder, so that anyone who sends you a receipt gets the download
link automatically. (Naturally, some people will try to “cheat” this system.)

And there you have it – the simple three-step strategy you can use to outsell
your competitors and put more money in your pocket.

It’s so easy you could be making more money by tomorrow… if you get
started today!

What An Amazing and Exhausting 2 Weeks.

Party Time Is Over Now Back To Work

It has truly been and amazing time for me this last two weeks. My team the Saints
finally went to and won a Super Bowl. I remember their first game in 1967 my Dad took me
to seen them in the old Tulane Stadium. John Gilliam took the opening kickoff and ran
it back 94 yards for a touchdown. Well, from then on until 2006 there were many ups
and downs, mainly downs, but I remain a loyal fan still today. So the Super Bowl victory
was just more than a win to me.

After the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras hit with full force. Parades then parties, parades then
parties on and on like that for over a week. I guess, no, I know I am getting to old for
these Mardi Gras celebrations, time to move over and let the younger generation take
that part over.

Now that I have had a couple of days to recoup its time to get back to some normalcy
and back to work. As I was recouping I was thinking about how the Saints or any football
team for that matter, has to take each game one at a time. How they put together a
game plan and execute that plan to a tee. If they don’t more than likely that will loose.

Same for business, we plan, research, set goals then take action. If something doesn’t
go as planned or what we planned does not seem to be working like we thought it would
then, we change that part of the plan and try something different to see how it works.
It could be something as simple as changing a headline or rewording our call to action.
The point being is we should always test, test and test again until we get the results
we are looking for.

After all the testing and still not getting the results we wanted, then its time to scrap that
plan and get another. Yes, get back up and dust yourself off and go at it again, learning
not to repeat the same mistakes. Like they say experience is the best teacher. While I
agree with that statement there is a way to succeed without failing so much, and that is
find a mentor who has been down that road and has learned from those mistakes already.

Folks, Internet Marketing can be hard if you try to learn it on your own. Even the best in
the business will tell you they had someone to guide them and teach them what they
needed to know. It can help make your business life more simplified when you have a
mentor to show you how.

Creating Your Squeeze Pages

Things you need to build your squeeze page.

There are several ways to create your opt-in page that presents your free offer
to possible subscribers.

One is to create the page itself using html code, which has a rather long
learning curve for some people. Then you have what is called a WYSIWYG
(What You See Is What You Get) editor. There are several available like
Front Page or Dreamweaver which can be expensive. There are some free
versions that work just as well like NVU, Kompozer, and My Free Website
Builder
. Coffee Cup offers reasonably priced editor and FTP program also
along with some free versions. Personally I use and recommend Kompozer
with My Free Website Builder my second choice.

Download them, try them and keep the one you are the most comfortable
with using.

Another way is to use squeeze or opt-in page templates and use the html
editor to modify the template to suite your needs. To do this you still need
to know some html coding. I recommend teaching yourself how to write
html and use css. A good resource for learning these formats is w3schools.com.
Don’t consider it a waste of your time to learn html or css formats consider
it a investment into yourself. If you are going to run a business online it is
to your advantage to learn all that you can. Unless you have enought money
in your budget to spend hundreds or even thousands to have a lot of this
work outsourced to someone else.

Another way is to use a software that creates squeeze pages for you. All you have
to do is enter the information you want on the pages including any graphics, and
your autoresponder codes and press the create button. I have tried this method
but find it not as personal as creating your own. But, it is another way to create
your squeeze pages which is the main goal.

I want to show you examples two opt-in pages I use that are very successful. You
